Working closely with the FSC policy team, members and key stakeholders, the team helps navigate Australia's evolving legislative and regulatory environment while supporting strong governance practices across the sector.
The team provides legal and governance expertise across FSC policy initiatives; supports members on regulatory and legislative developments; contributes to industry guidance, consultation submissions and reform discussions; promotes best-practice governance standards; and facilitates collaboration between industry participants, regulators and government.
Taxation & economics
The FSC Taxation & Economics team advocates for a modern, sustainable and internationally competitive tax system that supports long-term economic growth, investment and financial security for Australians.
The FSC believes Australia's tax system should encourage saving, investment and business growth; provide effective incentives for Australians to build wealth and save for retirement; strengthen Australia's position as a global financial services centre; promote an efficient, equitable and non-distortionary framework with lower compliance costs; and support sustainable government revenue and sound public finances.
Technology and innovation are reshaping the financial services sector at an unprecedented pace. The FSC Technology & Innovation Expert Group brings together industry leaders and subject-matter experts to explore the evolving technology landscape and its impact on financial services.
The group examines issues including financial and economic crime, cybersecurity and operational resilience, the Consumer Data Right, digital assets and central bank digital currencies, digital advice, and artificial intelligence. It is chaired by Sarah Penn of Mayflower Consulting.
